Overview

Shiyan in northwest Hubei is the base for Wudangshan, a UNESCO Taoist sacred mountain whose temples cling to misty peaks — the birthplace of tai chi (taiji) and a centre of Taoist practice for 600 years.

The city also built the giant Danjiangkou Reservoir, source of the South–North Water Transfer.
